Guy Bates is an award-winning writer, editor, artist, graphic designer, and publisher living in Phoenix, AZ.

He was the general manager of Borders Books at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

Prior, he was the executive editor of Hematology & Oncology News & Issues, a peer-reviewed monthly national magazine covering the economic, social, clinical, and legislative issues of quality cancer care.

Guy earned degrees in the psychology of language from the University of Texas at Austin and creative writing from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In the 1990s, he won five writing awards and did not win many others.

Guy founded wysiwyg publishing company in St. Louis (1991) and was a cofounder of The Writer's Workshop (1996). A former board member of the St. Louis Writers Guild (1998-2002), he was a founding board member and first elected president of the St. Louis Publishers Association (1999). Guy was selected to International Who's Who of Professionals 2000 for work in Africa and Honduras.

A Vietnam vet, Guy speaks three languages, juggles, has been a vegetarian more than 35 years, and plays a decent game of table tennis.
